Elyssa has been practicing so hard. She practices every night and is really getting better every game. I am so proud of her dedication.
This past Friday Elyssa had two of her friends spend the night. All three girls play softball, but on all different teams. Saturday they all had games, team pictures to take, and it was like 90 degrees. Saturday was interesting getting all the girls where they needed to be, but we managed. Elyssa did well, she hit a rocket to left for a 2 RBI single, and she walked another time at bat. Her team ended up winning 5-1.
Yesterday was very stressful. Elyssa's game was in another county so she was going to go home with her coaches sister. So the night before we are getting everything together and Elyssa asks me to straighten her hair. While doing this I asked Isaac if he could iron on her patch. And although I gave him specific instructions, he didn't listen. He came back in the room almost in tears because he had burnt a whole in her jersey the size of the iron. I called her coach and it was hard for them to tell me what I should do through their laughter. She had underarmour already, but when she put the jersey on it looked like we cut a hole for her boob. Then I get call from Elyssa that she forgot her cleats at school. I had mine in the car so she was able to wear them, but it took me over an hour to get to the field so she had to sit out the first two innings. Of course it was my week to get snacks so I dropped off the cleats then ran to the store for snacks. I got back to the field and the score was already 15-0, Elyssa's team. In our county we would have called the game, but this county doesn't. Elyssa's coach went easy on them, we stopped stealing home, we had some batters switch hit, and we changed our field set up. Elyssa hit a 2 RBI single, and a 1 RBI single. We ended up winning 27-1. They got the 1 run because our back up pitcher hit 3 batters and walked another one.
Elyssa has another game on Monday, and we should have a new jersey by then. I'll keep everyone updated. Hopefully there will be less drama.
