Softball is finally in full swing. We (nobody more than Elyssa) have been waiting for softball season. Elyssa was so tired of wrestling and everyone talking about wrestling that she would leave the room if someone mentioned the word. In her words she was sick of everyone paying attention to Isaac and wanted everyone to pay attention to her.
She has moved up a division this year and is playing with the big girls now. She always tries so hard and we've been practicing a lot. We had some rain game delays, but this past week we had two games (Thursday & Friday), and we have another one tonight, Thursday, and Saturday.
Elyssa is on a good team and they have won both games. The first game she was so intimidated and she doesn't like any constructive pointers from Mark or me, but while we were driving to the game just busted out with, "I'm not going to be afraid of those girls anymore!". I love that about her. Once she makes up her mind she just goes for it. It's funny to because she's like the shortest girl on the team and looks so cute when she goes up to bat.
Well in the second game she unleashed "the power" and hit a home run! Okay it was a solid single, but with errors in was an in the park home run. We're just going to stick with the home run story. Then at her next at bat she hit a blooper to right for another single. She has a lot of power so when she can start getting around on the ball she is going to be a total slugger!
She is now working getting the spot for catcher. She has been playing the outfield (all positions) and she is good, but she wants catcher bad. I believe by the end of the season she'll make it. She works and practices hard. Mark and I are both competitive and she is definitely like us. Well I should say she is more like Mark. I am competitive out loud and Elyssa is very quiet, like Mark.
I'll keep everyone posted to how my #3 is doing.
